Fr. John DeBellis
Born in the Bronx, Fr. DeBellis was raised in Fordham-Belmont, popularly known as the  “Little Italy” of the Bronx.

He attended the parish school of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School, and received a B.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University.

He entered St. Joseph’s Seminary, Yonkers in the Fall of 1981, and was ordained a priest on November 16th, 1985, by John Cardinal O’Connor, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Manhattan.

His first assignment was to Holy Rosary, Staten Island, and his first pastor was Bishop Robert Brucato.  He has also served the parishes of St. Joseph’s, Bronxville, O.L. Queen of Peace, Staten Island, and most recently was Pastor of St. Ann’s, Yonkers.

Fr. DeBellis tells us that he is most grateful to be in assignment at St. James, working with long-time friend, our Pastor, Fr. Anthony Sorgie.
